Description

Bethlem Hospital left its original site in Bishopsgate in 1676, but retained its property holdings there. The majority of these were sold to the Great Eastern Railway Company and the Metropolitan Railway Company between 1865 and 1870, and the last remaining holding was sold in the 1920s.
